Computers are something that all of us use for various purposes, or to achieve different goals. In today’s parlance no one can deny the importance of a computer in our lives. Computers have evolved from being enormous machines that were used to compute complicated mathematical calculations to something that provide us with speeding up our daily work, playing games and for that matter even entertainment. There are various categories of users who use the computers in today’s world, few of them use computers to play games, some to do their office work, few people use the computers to access the Internet and the list goes on. Whatever be the purpose of using computers one must agree that to work efficiently the computer must operate efficiently at a fast processing speed.

Nowadays there is a plethora of high configuration personal computers available to customers; these computers come with such high configurations that they put the so called supercomputers of the erstwhile era to shame. Most of these computers come with super fast processing speeds, they have huge amounts of memory and some of the even flaunt multiple cored processors.

But no matter how high the configuration of the computer may be, there are always certain problems that you end up facing as the computer becomes older. In case you are the owner of a high-end computer, sometimes it may so happen that your system starts to crash more frequently, the booting time may also increase considerably.

Sometimes, average users of computers complain of having more frequent system crashes, the Blue Screen of Death may appear suddenly causing all the programs to stop at once, this can lead to a loss of data.

The reason behind such problems lies in the registry of the system. The registry of an operating system is actually like a big room that stores information or rather data that tells the computer how to function. Data stored in the registry of a computer ranges from the configuration of software and hardware installed in the system, to the settings on how the system will boot every time it is restarted.

As the system grows old and the users install and uninstall programs and hardware for their convenience, as a result of which the bulk of the registry builds up. This occurs due to the fact that the registry entries of the uninstalled programs still remain and they cause the registry to occupy more space than usual. This results in the computer taking a longer amount of time to boot; the computer tends to perform sluggishly and cannot run more than one or two programs simultaneously.

A registry cleaner is a program that scans the system for unnecessary and erroneous registry entries, and those which are obsolete and corrupt and removes them safely. There are various kinds of registry cleaners available in the market, some of them are very robust and find the old registry entries and delete them in a fast manner, on the other hand some are less reliable but all of them clean up the registry to one extent or the other.
